Admissions
Brougham Street Community Nursery School is a local authority school, which unlike private nurseries which are businesses, means that all staff are employees of North Yorkshire County Council and we are funded and controlled by the local authority.
As a legally constituted school we have a head teacher who is an early years specialist, governing body, delegated budget and at least one teacher with qualified teacher status (QTS) and a qualified QTS teacher as SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
Our Provision
Our purpose built facility caters for children aged 3 months to 4 years old, and is split into three dedicated rooms. Our 'Baby Room' is for children from 3 months old - 2 years old. The term after a child turns 2, they will transition downstairs to our 'Toddlers room' (unless they are developmentally ahead, they may move down sooner), until the term after their 3rd birthday. The term after a child turns 3 years old, they move into our Nursery School, where they stay until they start primary school. Each room has an all-weather outdoor space and we are strong believers in the benefits of outdoor learning.

Brougham Street Nursery School is the ONLY maintained nursery school in Skipton to offer childcare provision all year round. We are open for 51 weeks of the year, from 8.00am until 5.30pm.

Baby Room, 0-2 years
Places for babies that are under 9 months or are not eligible for funding, are available as a long day 8.00 - 5.30pm or a half day (AM or PM). Parents who are accessing the 15 free hours for babies, can also buy additional sessions on top of their funding entitlement.

If your child is not eligible for the 15 free hours, they will be offered either a full day session or a half day session. All 15 hour funded places in the toddler room are offered as Term time only with an option to book into our holiday club. Parents who are accessing 2 year old funding can also buy additional sessions on top of their funding entitlement.
